The “small steps” principle continues to be used in the Transnistrian settlement process and some of the obtained results should not be ignored, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Grigory Karasin said after a meeting with the Transnistrian leader Yevgheny Shevchuk in Tiraspol, IPN reports.

Grigory Karasin was quoted by the News Agency “Novostipmr” as saying that some of the results achieved within the activities based on the “small steps” principle are rather important. Also, Russia and the international community are ready to help continue the cooperation and work should be done in this regard.

For his part, Yevgheny Shevchuk said that Tiraspol is intimidated by the official Chisinau by its ‘unilateral actions’. He mentioned the so-called political criminal cases started by the constitutional authorities and noted that Chisinau maintains an economic blockade on the Transnistrian region.

Grigory Karasin paid a working visit to Moldova to discuss the bilateral relations and to arrange the visit by Moldovan Foreign Affairs Minister Andrei Galbur to Moscow.
