The judicial system is currently in a "post-surgery" period and needs "chemotherapy" after the power transfer and after the changes that took place in state institutions. A part of the system is trying to adapt to the new conditions required by the current governing coalition. At the same time, the new ruling coalition does not want the de facto independence of the system. These opinions were expressed during the Jurnal TV show "O nas".
Journalist Dumitru Ciubașenco said that, on the one hand, some members of the judicial system are trying to submit to the new governing coalition, on the other hand, the journalist expressed his belief that the ruling coalition does not want the de facto independence of judges and prosecutors. "Everyone, including the government and the President, wants to subordinate the justice system. The judges and the prosecutors found themselves between a rock and a hard place. The system is fragmented into groups. Some want to hold certain seats, while others understand that they risk to leave the system. I do not know how long will this take”, said Dumitru Ciubașenco.
Former MP Chiril Lucinschi said that when Vladimir Voronin left power, the politicians that replaced him also wanted to exert control over the judiciary. In his opinion, the same occurrence happens now. The politician said that the judicial system is now in a "post-surgery" state. "The current governing coalition does not have political will and it does not understand the processes that take place in the Prosecutor's Office and in the justice system. People do not understand that no changes have occurred at the Prosecutor's Office, which is controlled by the same players”, pointed out the politician.
Former MP Stela Jantuan argued that the current government must listen to civil society experts that have advocated for radical change inside the justice system. In her opinion, the current ruling coalition lacks a clear vision or a strategy for Moldova and is unable to envision it on the go due to a lack of capable human resources. The former MP stressed that the issue is aggravated by the lack of staff, managers and specialists.
