The Ministry of Justice intends to ask the Constitutional Court to declare the Shor Party unconstitutional. The relevant application is to be submitted to the Government for approval, as Minister of Justice Sergiu Litvinenco announced. The official said there are sufficient legal circumstances for this party to be outlawed, IPN reports.

The minister makes reference to the constitutional provisions according to which the parties that by their goals or activities, argue against political pluralism, rule of law principles, the sovereignty and independence and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova are unconstitutional.

“By its activities so far, the Shor Party acted against the rule of law principles. The illegal financing in the case of this party was confirmed in time by final court judgments (presidential elections of 2016, local elections in the municipality of Chisinau of 2018, parliamentary elections in Hâncești constituency of 2020, local elections in Balti municipality of 2021). Owing to illegal financing, the candidates of this party were excluded from electoral races. Illegal financing was constantly identified, in almost each election, no matter who was in power. Furthermore, it is known that the law enforcement agencies are investigating a number of illegalities in the financing of this party,” stated Sergiu Litvinenco.

According to him, the findings of the U.S. authorities and the published reports show that this party promotes the interests of a foreign state and this is against the sovereignty and independence of the state.
