The Moldovan Ministry of Justice has refused to register the organization Noua Dreapta /New Right/ as a public association, explaining it on its founders’ affiliation with the Romanian organization of the same name, which is notorious for its extremist and xenophobic sentiments, the Ministry said in a press release, quoted by Info-Prim Neo.
The association Noua Dreapta, founded on 1 October 2009, lodged an application for registration with the Ministry of Justice on February 18. The Ministry said the application file had a number of deficiencies. It was particularly concerned by the media reports which showed one of the association’s founders to be a follower of the Romanian New Right doctrine, which embraces the principles of the Legionary Movement.
“Considering that, in conformity with Art.6 of the Law on combating extremist activities, the establishment of public associations which are oriented at extremist activities is forbidden in Moldova, the Ministry of Justice has rejected the application for registration submitted by Noua Dreapta”, it was said in the press release.
