The Ministry of Justice reacted to the statements made by Maia Sandu on her Facebook page concerning the fact that they are forced to indicate the jobs of the party members on the list of members. According to representatives of the Ministry, the accusations are false, while the consultative list showing the documents needed for registering a party, which was placed on the institutions’ website, contains a technical error, IPN reports.

On her Facebook page, the leader of the political project “Action and Solidarity” (PAS) Maia Sandu wrote that the Ministry of Justice published on its official website a document that imposes a new requirement for a party to be registered, which is not contained in the Law on Political Parties – to indicate the jobs of the party members. “This happens after several thousand people put their signatures on the list of PAS members without specifying the workplace,” said the former minister of education, noting that members of the political project informed her about the fact that they are intimidated and blackmailed.

Afterward, the Ministry of Justice reacted to Maia Sandu’s assertions, saying the consultative list contained a technical error. “The conditions of registering political parties are specified in Law 294-XVI of December 21, 2007. Neither the Ministry nor another person can impose additional conditions besides those provided in the law,” it is said in a press release of the institution. This also says that such a requirement was imposed on none of the applicants.
