The Liberal Party head Mihai Ghimpu said it is not within the competence of the Justice Ministry to invalidate a decision of the National Council of the PL, which decided to exclude a number of members from the party, IPN reports.

The reaction comes after the Ministry, asked by the members of the Council for Reforming the PL, held that the statute provisions were violated and specified that only the party’s Congress has the exclusive power to elect and discharge the party’s first deputy chairpersons, deputy chairpersons, secretary general and members of the National Council.

Mihai Ghimpu said in this connection that the Justice Ministry has some other powers and such decisions of the National Council can be challenged only in court

The members of the Council for Reforming the Liberal Party intend to go to court so that their rights and freedoms are fully restored. Among the excluded members are MPs Ion Hadarca, Ana Gutu, Oleg Bodrug, Anatol Arhire, and Vadim Vacarciuc.
