The PAS government has full power in the state and has all the instruments that enable it to clean the justice system, but things do not stand as they promised in the election campaign, said the president of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” Dinu Plîngău. According to him, the file-profile cases are delayed and this only disappoints society. For his part, Minister of Justice Sergiu Litvinenco said the Republic of Moldova initiated the procedure for the extradition of the fugitive offenders and is waiting for a response from host countries, IPN reports.

Dinu Plîngău said the Party of Action and Solidarity took over owing to its powerful anticorruption massage but the electoral promises it made are not delivered. Persons who lack integrity continue to hold important posts in the prosecution service and the judiciary system, while the high-profile cases are stagnant.

“When we speak about high-profile cases, the end result is the most important thing. For now we do not have any end result,” the president of PPPDA stated in the talk show “Secrets of the Power” on Jurnal TV channel.

Minister of Justice Sergiu Litvinenco said extradition is an intricate process that depends not on the Republic of Moldova, but on the swiftness with which the applications are examined by the states in which the fugitive perpetrators hide.

“Extradition was initiated with regard to Platon, Plahotniuc and also Shor. The case of Shor is at the Ministry of Justice given that he was sentenced by the first court and the issue is within the competence of the Ministry of Justice. But the extradition process is difficult everywhere in the world. Look what is going on in Romania. They have been unable to bring someone from Serbia for 7-8 years already. Even if approaches were made, we do not have responses yet. Conviction in absentia is an option. If the person is convicted and the property is confiscated, this can return to the country. In the case of Platon, the Prosecutor’s Office constituted a commission rogatory in the UK and is waiting for an answer. In the case of Shor, I filed an application to find facts in August, after I came to the Ministry, but we are waiting for Israel’s decision. I also want these persons to be convicted if their blame is proven. I want their property to be confiscated but things cannot be done overnight,” stated the minister.

In a TV program earlier, former Prime Minister of Moldova Ion Sturza said the case involving fugitive MP Ilan Shor would soon have an end result. According to Sturza, Ilan Shor is undesirable in Israel and this fact can contribute to his extradition.
