The fifth “Jurnalului Saptamanal la Europa Libera” (“Weekly Diary at Free Europe”) was launched in Chisinau on January 25 in the evening. The event was attended by politicians, journalists and other guests, Info-Prim Neo reports. Coordinator of the volume Valentina Ursu, who is a journalist of Radio Free Europe, said the weekly journal is a 'radiography' of everything that has happened in the Moldovan society during the last five years. “The book is popular with out listeners. It is sold very quickly. At the end of every program at Radio Free Europe, our listeners say they would like to keep such a diary and we are glad to hear such a thing,” Valentina Ursu said. She added that the protagonists of the weekly diaries included in the book range from ordinary people to famous persons. “These diaries amaze me every time. I'm impressed more not by those who know what journalism is and have certain writing skills, but by ordinary people as they are very honest in their diaries,” said Valentina Ursu. As to the politicians, the coordinator said they exaggerate certain things. “It is a nice experience. I'm glad that we write a real history in parallel with that written by the historians.” Attending the launch, Moldova's Acting President Mihai Ghimpu said he writes when he has time, but confessed that he has read more lately. Prime Minister Vlad Filat said the week that he described in the journal wasn't one of the best. “I must say that the diary does not contain all the events that happened during that week as I managed to relate only the most important events,” Filat said. The Democratic leader Marian Lupu said he read the entire volume and discovered many new qualities in his colleagues from the Alliance for European Integration. But he did not want to speak about them. The president of the Moldova Noastra Alliance Serafim Urecheanu does not have his diary included in this volume, but he promised he will write one. “I have been a faithful listener of Radio Free Europe since I started to study physics and built the first reception detectors,” he said. At the end of the event, writer Vladimir Besleaga congratulated the team of Radio Free Europe on its successful project. “It is sad that none of the authors of the diaries wrote that they read a book. I wish those who wrote the diaries had five books on their tables,” he said. The third volume of the series “Realitatea cu Amanuntul la Europa Libera” (“Reality in Detail at Free Europe” written by Iulian Ciocan was launched the same evening.
