The Cabinet approved a bill to amend and supplement the Labor Code which was registered by a group of MPs as a legislative initiative. This provides that the day of June 1 will be added to the list of nonworking bank holidays, IPN reports.
The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection said that owing to this adjustment, the parents will be able to devote increased attention to the children and to spend the International Children’s Day together with them.
Also, the International Children’s Day was put on the list of traditional holidays and days off specified in the Parliament decision of 1990 concerning commemorative days, bank holidays and nonworking days in the Republic of Moldova.
In Moldova there are now 12 official holidays declared days off for salary earners. In other European states, at least 13 holidays are considered days off.
