Moldova’s Judokas were eliminated from the Olympic Games in London, Info-Prim Neo reports. The leader of the national team Sergiu Toma was narrowly defeated in the 1/8 finals of the 81 kg category by Japan’s Tkahiro Nakai. In the first fight, Toma had bested the Czech Republic’s Jaromir Musil. On Wednesday, August 1, Moldova’s other representative in the judo tournament was beaten as well. Ion Remarenco participated in the 90 kg category and was eliminated in the first fight by Russia’s Kirill Denisov. Today, Moldova’s Dan Olaru will take his chances in the archery competition. The 15 year old will have to best USA’s Jake Kaminski in the 1/32 finals. So far, Moldova won only one bronze medal at the Olympics in London thanks to weightlifter Cristina Iovu. Over the next days, Moldova’s colors will be defended by 10 athletes, 2 wrestlers, a weightlifter and a boxer. The medals table is topped by China with 13 gold, 6 silver and 4 bronze. Moldova is ranked 34th alongside 10 other countries who won only a bronze medal.
