The Ministry of Youth and Sport, the International Judo Federation and the Judo Federation of the Republic of Moldova signed a tripartite cooperation agreement based on which judo will be introduced in the school program as an alternative to physical training lessons. The initiative is supported by the Ministry of Education, which signed a cooperation document to this effect, IPN reports.
In a press release, the Ministry of Youth and Sport says the program will be initially piloted in ten national schools and lyceums. The International Judo Federation will offer Tatami fightwear and a set of 100 kimonos to the schools involved in the program. The Federation’s president Marius Vizer said the program achieves results all over the world, being a leader in Hungary, where it has been implemented in over 200 schools during two years.
Marius Vizer said the Republic of Moldova has a good generation of juniors and cadets and the International Judo Federation is ready to help it with training and to then to allow it to organize the World Juniors Judo Championship.
