The Judicial Inspectorate is to be notified by the member of the Superior Council of Magistracy (SCM) Dorel Musteață after former presidential adviser Maxim Lebedinschi, currently secretary of the Central Election Commission, had a meeting with the president of the Cahul Town Appeals Court. Another challenge comes after Minister of Home Affairs Pavel Voicu requested the SCM to pronounce on an issue and the involved judge described such an act as interference, IPN reports.
Dorel Musteață on April 30 said the meeting in Cahul took place on April 1 and the disseminated pictures of the two officials generate questions. “So as not to leave place for questions, I request the Inspectorate to examine this case as there were many interpretations in the public sphere,” he stated.
In the second case, Minister of Home Affairs Pavel Voicu submitted an application to the Superior Council of Magistracy concerning the examination of a cased and judge Gennady Pavliuc, who is featured in this case, complained that this is interference on the part of the minister.
The extraordinary meeting of the Supreme Council of Magistracy arranged for April 30 was postponed because the quorum was not present. The SCM members appointed by Parliament and the ex-officio members – minister of justice and prosecutor general – were absent.
