Judges and prosecutors who did not declare their incomes for last year will be punished disciplinarily, said the chairman of the Central Examination Commission Veaceslav Ionita. Sixteen judges and 97 prosecutors will be penalized, Info-Prim Neo reports. Minister of Justice Oleg Efrim, who is a member of the commission, said that after the lists of judges and prosecutors who did not submit income statements is compiled within two weeks, all the information will be sent to the Supreme Council of Magistrates and the Supreme Council of Prosecutors. Veaceslav Ionita said that the representatives of the local public authorities are the most responsible as regards the declaration of incomes. 60% of all the mayors, deputy mayors, district heads and deputy heads have not submitted income statements. But they cannot be penalized because the law does not provide for punishments. The Commission’s chairman also said that a new law that provides for the creation of the National Integrity Commission will come into force on March 1. The law envisions disciplinary, administrative and criminal punishments for the public servants. The standing Commission will have all the possibilities of verifying the authenticity of the income statements. The Central Examination Commission ended its activity. The last meeting took place on February 16. In the next period, the Parliament will have to designate the members of the National Integrity Commission that will perform the duties of the Central Examination Commission instead of it.
