The Hâncești Court acquitted judge Aureliu Postică in the case in which he was accused of false statements. Prosecutors said the sentence will be appealed to the Chisinau Court of Appeals, IPN reports.

The criminal investigation was initiated in September 2022. According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the defendant, exercising his duties of judge and having the obligation to declare his and his family’s assets, in 2018-2021 intentionally indicated erroneous data regarding his wife’s income of approximately 900,000 lei in his property and personal interests statement.

Recently, the Hâncești Court decided that the judge’s acts do not constitute elements of the crime of making false statements and acquitted him.
