Journalists from Moldova and Romania will have the occasion to diversify and strengthen collaboration within the frameworks of the “Extending cross-border cooperation of journalists from Moldova and Romania” project, implemented by the Independent Press Association (API). According to Petru Macovei, director executive of API, the collaboration of journalists from both banks of Prut River has no constant character, which is regrettable, according to the cited source, because in light of the development of press, colleagues from the other side of Prut are closer to the events from Moldova than the press from USA or other countries where the press is developed. According to the expert, it is natural to nurture collaboration between the Romanian speaking journalists from both banks of Prut, and the efficiency of such collaboration is much higher than one with the journalists from other countries, because journalistic experience from there is less relevant for Moldova. According to the cited source, the draft is composed of 3 components. Within the frameworks of the first one, API will organize a professional internship for the local and national journalists from Moldova, at newspaper’s editorial office, national and regional TV and radio stations from Romania. During one month, journalists from the Republic of Moldova will work together with their Romanian colleagues, making and spreading news, articles and reportages, but also gather documentary evidence on the issue of Moldovan-Romanian collaboration in different areas. API will select for this objective 16 reporters working at different radio and TV stations, newspapers and news agencies. In November, API will organize a documentation visit for 5 journalists from Romania. The topic of the research visit will be settled depending on Romanian journalists’ informing necessities. The second part of the project includes publishing the online Moldovan-Romanian newspaper – www.md-ro.org which aims at becoming an important information source both for journalists and persons interested in the Moldovan-Romanian collaboration issue. The newspaper will be published with the joint forces of journalists from Moldova and Romania and will be launched on October 1, 2006. In order to promote media in the Republic of Moldova the issue of Moldovan-Romanian collaboration in different fields, API will organize a national contest of articles and reportages. The contest will be structured in 4 compartments: best investigation produced by a joint team; best article/radio or TV reportage about Euro-regions; best article/radio or TV reportage about twinned villages; best article/radio or TV reportage about Moldova-Romanian collaboration in the fields of culture, education, science. The project is implemented with the financial support of the Romanians from everywhere Department of the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The total cost of the project amounts to EUR 23 thousand.
