Joint working groups of Strategic Dialogue with U.S. met in Chisinau

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration hosted the meeting of the joint working groups of the Strategic Dialogue with the United States. Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, transmitted the national institutions’ trenchant message that they want an efficient and dynamic platform for discussions, which will enable to implement the agreed actions at an accelerated speed for the Moldovan authorities to be prepared for the high-level meeting set for next year, IPN reports.

Nicu Popescu expressed his gratitude to the experts who exchanged opinions and information in priority areas. It goes to the rule of law and good governance, diversification and energy security, commercial, economic and investment cooperation, extension of the dialogue in the field of security, including cybersecurity, and public diplomacy.

“In the meeting, I welcomed the U.S. authorities’ announcement concerning the recent inclusion of Moldovan politicians in the sanctions list of the U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control for their considerable acts of corruption, for their actions to undermine the rule of law and for allying themselves with the Russian intelligence services in illegal actions to reverse our European road,” stated the official.

According to him, once again during these 30 years of diplomatic relations, the people of the U.S. showed that they stand by Moldova in its fight for democracy, freedom and thriving future without corrupt people.
