The frontier between the Republic of Moldova and Romania will be patrolled by joint teams. The Government of Moldova approved the relevant protocol signed in Bucharest a month ago, IPN reports.

According to Minister of the Interior Alexandru Jizdan, the protocol covers the common Moldovan-Romania state border on an area of 10 km from the border line inward the territory of the two states. By exception, the territorial applicability can be extended outside the operation area owing to the configuration of the zone and road infrastructure.

Joint patrolling is practiced in most of the European states, in particular those situated on the EU’s external borders.
