Vice-President of the European Parliament Jacek Protasiewicz and MEP Libor Roucek will arrive in Chisinau on Sunday, May 26, for talks with Moldova’s leaders on how to overcome the present political crisis, IPN reports, quoting a press release from the European Union Delegation to Moldova.

On Monday the MEPs will meet Prime Minister-designate Iurie Leanca and other representatives of the former Alliance for European Integration coalition.

“Moldova urgently needs a stable and pro-European government to consolidate democratic institutions and pursue reforms that will benefit Moldova's citizens. It needs a credible government to safeguard the achievements of the past years. And it needs a government with a clear mandate to complete negotiations on the Association Agreement, the DCFTA and to implement the visa liberalization regime,” the MEPs said in a joint statement.

The MEPs consider that failure to reach a political compromise may have serious repercussions for Moldova's European integration process. They said the objective of their visit is not to impose an agreement.
