As from February 5, the new jointly operated border crossing point Palanca can be crossed by all the categories of vehicles on condition that they do not transport alcoholic beverages, tobacco products or goods that are subject to veterinary and phytosanitary control.

The Customs Service reminds that the new border crossing point was inaugurated on December 28, 2018 and at that stage was open only to vehicles weighing up to 3.5 tones and with the capacity of at most 22 places and also to goods that are not subject to veterinary and phytosanitary control.

The new border crossing point Palanca was built with €4.5 million invested by the European Union and €1.68 million by the Government of the Republic of Moldova. The facility is located on a 2.5-hectare area and includes a modern three-store administrative building, with over 30 offices for the employees of the Border Police and Customs Service of the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine, specially designed premises for the control of goods, cars and trucks, etc.

With EU support, specialized equipment for the activity of the customs officers and border guards, computers and furniture, were procured and installed. The border can be crossed on foot or by bicycle via this post.

Since its opening on December 28, 2018 until February 4, the border crossing point was crossed by over 13,000 units of transport.
