The film “Her Love Boils Bathwater” directed by Ryôta Nakano opened the Japanese Film Festival at the Odeon Cinema in Chisinau in the evening of January 23. This was the first screening of the four showings of the event, IPN reports.

Attending the inaugural event, Japan’s Ambassador to Moldova Masanobu Yoshii said the Embassy chose four films for this year’s festival. They present a part of the modern daily life of the Japanese people and their way of thinking.

According to the diplomat, the festival is part of the cultural and arts events staged with the aim of increasing Moldovans’ interest in Japan in connection with the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics.

“I hope these movies will help you to at least slightly enrich your knowledge of the society and life of the Japanese people and will arouse your interest in my country,” stated Masanobu Yoshii.

On January 24, the festival continues with the film “The Tokyo Night Sky”, starting at 6:30pm.”Three Stories of Love” will be screened on January 25, at 6pm, while “Dear Etranger”, starting at 6pm, will close the festival.

All the films will be shown at the Odeon Cultural Center. Entrance is free of charge. The four Japanese films are subtitled in Romanian and English.
