The Japanese government will provide Moldova with a grant of about 100 million Japanese yen, which is the equivalent of about $900 thousand, for the purchase of medical equipment. A Grant Agreement to this effect was approved at today's cabinet meeting.
According to Health Minister Ala Nemerenco, the Grant Agreement aims to contribute to the implementation of the Economic and Social Development Programme by providing foreign currency to finance the purchase of medical equipment for Moldova from agreed eligible sources.
The implementation of the treaty will have beneficial social impact. It will strengthen the capacities of medical institutions with medical devices and will increase the population's access to diagnostic services, which is currently limited.
