Japan has provided about US$90,000 for implementing a project to improve the conditions of study at the music school “Maria Cibotari” in the municipality of Cahul. The money was allocated to preform repair works on the school’s building – to replace the roof, to thermally insulate the walls, to rehabilitate the centralized heating system. The project was financed through the Grant Assistance for Human Security Projects of the Grassroots Program “Kusanone”, IPN reports.

According to Japan’s Embassy in Moldova, the project comes to ensure decent learning and teaching conditions for students and teachers. The costs for heat will be optimized. The improvement of the conditions of study at the music school “Maria Cibotari” also contributes to promoting and developing music in the municipality of Cahul and the neighboring localities.

The project completion ceremony involved Japan’s Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova Katayama Yoshihiro, mayor of Cahul municipality Nicolae Dandiș, representatives of the Cahul District Council, the administration and students of the school.

The program “Kusanone” was launched in Moldova in 2008. Through this, Japan has offered over US$6.3 million in non-reimbursable assistance for 73 development projects designed to improve wellbeing in society and human security, most of these being implemented in health and education.
