Plastic artist Serghei Sulin celebrated his 50th birthday together with his best friends. On this occasion, the artist gathered his most valuable works at an exhibition themed “At Half Terrestrial Life”, which was set up at the Russian Science and Culture Center in Chisinau, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the author, the exhibition's theme symbolizes the past achievements and the future plans. The exhibited works focus mainly on nature, flowers, old streets and towns. “I like nature and old places. I exhibited these works in Russia and Romania. My friends and close people that are now near me represent the prizes that I won during all these years are,” the artist said. Tudor Braga, the director of the exhibitions center “Constantin Brancusi”, said the artist combined different techniques in realistic painting. “Continuing the Russian and national traditions, Serghei Sulin wants to renew the means of expression basing on the contemporary art trends,” Tudor Braga said. “The artist prefers the illustrative language and complicated compositions in drawings. In painting, he likes static painting, portrait and landscape and prefers complementary 'chromatic scales', diminishing their density by emphasizing their value.” Petru Dontov, the head of the Public Movement “Russian Spiritual Unity”, said he likes the works featuring nature, the Nistru, town places. “I think he will continue to do successful things as in the first part of his life.” Boris Marian, journalists, poet and editor-in-chief of “Moldova”, said that the artist is too modest and this hinders him from promoting his image. Serghie Sulin is the president of the Association of Russian Plastic Artists in Moldova. In 1994, he became a member of the Union of Plastic Artists of Moldova. The exhibition will continue for a month.
