The Government desperately needs a reshuffle, thinks the ex-ambassador and former lawmaker Iurie Reniță, who claims that the “incompetence” of some ministers jeopardizes Moldova’s pro-European course and plays into the hands of “revanchist” pro-Russian forces.
During a talk show on RliveTV, Reniță noted that despite PAS controlling Parliament and other key agencies, reforms are slow to materialize because of a “lack of competence and political will”. According to him, the mistakes made by the current government are favoring the political left, with their return to power being imminent unless urgent action is taken.
“They have an incredible parliamentary presence of 63 seats, they have the Presidency, the Government, they have everything. Why don’t we see reforms then? If it’s true that illegal schemes haven been dismantled, if high-level embezzlement is no longer going on, where is the money? This money should have been in the state budget by now. I want the PAS to succeed, but due to the incompetence of many ministers, corruption is getting consolidated. This incompetence also favors the revanchist forces, the fifth column, which is coming to power at full steam. Polls are already worrying. Just a year into the new government, Dodon and Shor are taking the lead, with the far-left, pro-Moscow parties coming out on top”, said Iurie Reniță.
The former lawmaker is also accusing the PAS government of not cooperating with like-minded parties outside Parliament.
“One year after taking office, there are ministers who act like NGO-ists. The lack of experience and competence is evident in the current Government, with the exception of maybe two or three ministers. Random people, who are however docile and politically subordinated to the PAS. The current government has isolated itself. It does not communicate with people outside the PAS. But this is a big mistake. Once you take power, you have to show flexibility and availability for dialogue and cooperation, which does not happen”, said Reniță.
Earlier Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița said that no government reshuffles are planned at the moment, adding that the government team remains united in the face of the ongoing economic and security crisis.
