President Nicolae Timofti had discussions with acting First Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Iurie Leanca with a view to appointing him as interim Premier. In the evening of April 23, the head of state will sign a relevant decree. The information was made public by the President’s spokesman Vlad Turcanu, IPN reports.
“President Timofti took notice of the Constitutional Court’s decision. The head of state will act in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution and will comply with this decision. He discussed with acting Prime Minister Vlad Filat and summoned Iurie Leanca to inform him about his appointment as interim Premier,” said Vlad Turcanu.
On April 22, the Constitutional Court decided that the head of state’s decree on the designation of Vlad Filat as Prime Minister was unconstitutional and that an interim Premier must be named until a new Government is formed.
