Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Iurie Leanca on January 22-23 will be paying a working visit to Brussels where he will have a series of meetings with EU officials, IPN has learned from the Government’s press service.

According to the quoted source, in the discussions Iurie Leanca will inform the European partners about the Moldovan Government’s commitment to accelerate reforms in key areas, especially in justice and the fight against corruption. Among other topics for discussion will be the financial support intended for Moldova, realization of the potential of the free trade area and utilization of the opportunities offered within the Eastern Partnership.

“I go to Brussels to transmit a clear message to Brussels that the Republic of Moldova really wants to reform a number of areas in which there are problems. I’m convinced that by promoting reforms in a coherent manner, we will be able to substantially foster the dialogue with the EU at different levels so that the citizens feel the benefits of the rapprochement with the EU as soon as possible,” stated Iurie Leanca.

The post of Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration was instituted in the context of the government reshuffles announced by the government coalition on December 19. Iurie Leanca was invested to the post on January 10, together with five ministers and a deputy prime minister, by an order signed by Andrian Candu as acting President of Moldova.
