U.S. Senator John McCain is expected to pay a visit to Chisinau following concerns expressed by Washington officials over the impact of the Ukraine crisis on the Transnistrian conflict, the U.S. Department said in a press release, quoted by Mediafax on its website.
Contacted by IPN, the Moldovan Premier’s adviser Liliana Vitu-Esanu said that Iurie Leanca is set to meet with the U.S official in the first half of April 17.
After Russia annexed the Crimean peninsula, John McCain harshly criticized Russia and drew attention to the situation in Moldova. He warned that Russian President Vladimir Putin may turn attention to Moldova and Latvia after annexing Ukraine’ Crimea.
