Prime Minister Iurie Leanca instructed the Ministry of Transport and Road Infrastructure to use the available instruments and make the contractors obey the terms set in the contracts for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of roads. The request was made in the August 29 meeting of the committee for the supervision of the road sector program that was convened by the Premier, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué from the Government.
Iurie Leanca requested ensuring transparency in the procurement processes, including those financed by the EBRD and EIB for reconstructing the Chisinau – Ungheni, Chisinau – Giurgiulesti, Hancesti – Lapusna, Balti – Sarateni, M1 – Ialoveni, Balti – Falesti – Sculeni, R1 Bahmut, and M3 Vulcanesti roads. According to members of the committee, funds will be disbursed within the next round for illuminating street portions, especially those that are crowded and dangerous.
The Government headed by Iurie Leanca pledged to rehabilitate 130 km of roads during the first 100 days of the investiture. Under the current contracts, the works will be completed by 2014.
