For Moldova to benefit from macro-financial assistance, a memorandum is needed with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), but the Government has made yet no step in this direction, said former Prime Minister Iurie Leanca.
“I, as an MP, don’t know if the Government made an approach or an invitation to the IMF. If I were Prime Minister, I would immediately send an invitation to Washington as without a memorandum, without agreeing the policies with the IMF, we cannot count on macro-financial assistance,” Leanca told the journalists.
“I ask myself what the authorities count on. Where do they think financial support will come from at a time when things in our country developed not positively owing to this long period of uncertainty?”
The ex-Premier also said that from the discussions with the EU ambassadors, he understood that if Moldova does not make progress in reforming the legal system, it could lose more money from the budget support and the situation would thus worsen significantly.
