The Republic of Moldova deserves another treatment on the part of the European Union. The European integration and the very clear perspective offer Moldova another geopolitical context and stabilize the situation. These are two of the most important messages with which Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Iurie Leanca goes to the Western capitals. The official developed the issue in the talk show “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, IPN reports.

Iurie Leanca also said that when he goes to the Western capitals, he speaks about Moldova’s accomplishments and failures, the country’s objectives and the Europeans’ role in achieving these objectives. Moldova needs a permanent dialogue with the Western countries. A solid relationship between Brussels and Washington and coordinated policies concerning the Republic of Moldova, discussed in detail by the two powers, are needed.

As to the recently created Moldova-Georgia-Ukraine Interparliamentary Assembly, Iurie Leanca said this initiative is necessary and beneficial, especially for Moldova. They started to speak more about Ukraine and Georgia in the European space and less about Moldova. “In this connection, we managed to launch such an initiative and to distinguish ourselves in the same context as we have the same foreign policy objectives and are victims of the same aggression policy pursued by another state,” noted the Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration.

Iurie Leanca also said that Moldova’s military, energy and informational security depends greatly on Ukraine. “Ukraine can help us a lot to change the mentality, especially of the Ukrainian minority in Moldova, which is still under the influence of the “Homo Sovieticus” concept and the Russian propaganda. At the same time, we should be slightly more selfish and focus on our problems, as, for example, Slovenia did when it was about the former Yugoslavia,” he stated.
