Prime Minister Iurie Leanca said that for the first time the laws adopted by the government are discussed with the diaspora. This is the first government that started to hold consultations with the diaspora. The Premier discussed with Moldovans from abroad in the first Online Forum with the Diaspora entitled “Europe at home”. The event was organized by the Bureau for Diaspora Relations, IPN reports.

According to a communiqué of the Government’s press service, the Prime Minister spoke about the main processes that took place in Moldova over the last few years and about the most important steps taken by the executive to strengthen the relations with the Moldovans from abroad.

Most of the questions were asked by the Moldovans from Italy, Greece, France, Spain, Portugal, the U.S., Canada, Russia, and Kazakhstan. The over 60 questions put to the Premier referred to the Association Agreement with the EU, the social problems faced by the Moldovans from abroad, Moldova’s economic potential in the context of the European integration, the country’s internal policy and the involvement of the diaspora in developing Moldova.

Iurie Leanca called on the diaspora to join the campaign to promote Moldova’s integration into the EU abroad “Europe at home!”. The newly created website dedicated to the campaign www.europa-acasa.md was launched within the forum. Here, the Moldovans from abroad can write letters about Europe to those who are at home. They will also be able to write to all the Premiers of the EU member states to convince them by their own examples that Moldova deserves to be supported and promoted so that it become a fully-fledged member of the EU.

The diaspora was invited to be near the Moldovans from the country on June 27, when Moldova will sign the Association Agreement with the European Union, and to mark this historical day together with them.
