Iurie Leanca told the journalists that if the relations between the PLDM and PCRM improve, he could leave the ranks of the Liberal-Democrats. “The PLDM has a history and objectives that it achieved and, if the related goals continue to be pursued, I will not have reasons to take other decisions. However, if the relations with the Communists develop, the situation will be different and I’m afraid that the vote together with the Communists will be a dangerous signal,” the acting Premier, who is the first deputy chairman of the PLDM, said Saturday, quoted by IPN.
Asked if he does not feel betrayed now that the PLDM fielded another candidate for premiership, Iurie Leanca said he will feel comfortable as MP as well and will continue to state his viewpoints. “The greatest risk is that we will stagnate and will be unable to find the necessary logical solutions. When we do not do the homework, we cannot make progress in the relations with the EU and this means that we will not enjoy financial support. I’m afraid the justice reform will be stopped. But things can yet improve,” he stated.
He also said that he found out about the designation of a new candidate for PM on behalf of the PLDM in the evening of February 13. “I’ve known Chiril Gaburici for a period. I think he has certain abilities. He had a national and international career, but I reiterate that it is also very important in what conditions the future Government will work. It seems that this government will be voted with the direct participation of the PCRM. I didn’t discuss with Gaburici yet, but I will meet with him with pleasure. He can count on my support, not yet on my vote,” stated Leanca.
Acting Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Eugeniu Carpov, who is also an MP on behalf of the PLDM, said he does not know if he will vote for a Cabinet headed by Chiril Gaburici and will take a final decision before the Parliament siting. As to the formation of a minority government, he said he thinks this is a bad decision for Moldova. “It will be a source of continuous instability. Those who call themselves a constructive opposition already try to intervene in governance and place obstacles to the government,” he stated, adding he never had close relations with the Party of Communists and will never support their ideology. He made it clear that he could also leave the PLDM.
