The leader of the European People’s Party of Moldova (PPEM) Iurie Leanca said he will accept the post of Prime Minister if it’s offered to him. He made such a statement in the program “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, IPN reports.
“I want to return. I have a powerful motivation. But the main condition is that I must enjoy parliamentary support, not as it happened during the previous mandate, when I was blocked by colleagues from the own party. I will accept this post only when the parliamentary coalition is formed,” said the leader of the PPEM.
Iurie Leanca said he is against early parliamentary elections, though the results of the last polls are favorable for the PPEM. “Polls show we could win 10-12% of the vote. I assure you that we have growth potential and a team of upright persons who hadn’t been involved in politics. In case of early elections, we would win 15 to 25 seats. As a politician, I consider that the national interest prevails over the narrow party interests,” he stated.
Iurie Leanca noted there are no alternatives for a coalition between the PDM, PLDM, PL and the unaffiliated MPs. “We cannot form a coalition with the PCRM. They cannot achieve the European integration objective, not speaking about the Socialists. I think there are yet chances for the reason to triumph. The three large European families warned us that this is the last chance. Let’s think about the ordinary people and sit at the negotiating table. The parties from the EU are ready to delegate an important politician to help us and to lobby Brussels, if we return to normality,” he said.
