Former Prime Minister Iurie Leanca, who heads the European People’s Party that is in the process of being registered, said he will agree to hold again the post of Premier if he is offered to. He made such a statement in the talk show “Friday with Anatolie Golea” on RTR Moldova channel, IPN reports.

“The period during which I served as Prime Minister was too short. We didn’t manage to see the results of reforms. We laid the basis of serious reforms that were stopped because of the rulers’ stupidity. The post is less important for me. What I want is to complete those reforms that we started,” said the ex-Premier.

Iurie Leanca expressed his readiness to hold negotiations with the pro-European parliamentary parties. “Given the current situation, we must sit at the negotiating table and find solutions to the problems faced by the country, leaving the personal ambitions aside. Everyone understands that we are sinking. The acting Prime Minister and minister of finance should be invited to discussions so that we agree what we should do. This inaction on the part of the ruling parties is surprising. The situation is similar to that in Greece, but could be even worse,” he stated.

Referring to the accusations that he is to blame for the stealing of money from the banking system, made by the president of the Audit Office Serafim Urechean, Iurie Leanca said these are political statements. “Urechean manages an apolitical institution and should not make such statements. He also said that Vlad Filat is the most suitable candidate for premiership. In autumn, Urechean’s tenure as president of the Audit Office expires and he probably takes steps not to remain without a post,” he stated/
