Prime Minister Iurie Leanca can have a meeting with the Transnistrian leader Yevgeny Shevchuk in the second half of February. In the program “Good evening” on the public TV channel Moldova 1, the Premier said this period was suggested by representatives of the Transnistrian administration, IPN reports.
“This dialog is very necessary. If discussions aren’t held, there appear different suspicions. I’m ready to meet with Yevgeny Shevchuk tomorrow or the day after tomorrow, in Tiraspol, Chisinau or in some other place. Those from Tiraspol prefer the second half of February. There are many problems that need to be discussed,” said the Premier.
Iurie Leanca also said that given that 2014 is an electoral year, they cannot expect spectacular progress to be made in the dialogue, but the efforts should be continued. “We must do everything possible for the people from the left bank of the Nistru to feel the care of Chisinau,” he stated.
The first round of Transnistrian conflict settlement talks in the 5+2 format this year will take place on February 27 and 28.
