Prime Minister Iurie Leanca had a meeting with Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Grigory Karasin, with whom he discussed topical subjects from the bilateral agenda. The two agreed to intensify the discussions so that the relations between the two states develop dynamically. Iurie Leanca said the European integration process does not hamper the cooperation within the CIS, IPN reports.
According to a communiqué of the Government, the Premier said that he wants Chisinau to have very good relations with Moscow. “We are transparent in the process of coming closer to the EU and have nothing to hide. The Association Agreement does not hinder the cooperation with Russia. We want to be a predictable partner so as to ensure good cooperation both with the East and with the West,” said the Premier.
For his part, Grigory Karasin said that Russia also wants to develop the relations with Moldova. “The Russian Federation wants relations of friendship with Moldova, which would be strengthened in all the spheres. We count on a dynamic political dialogue,” he stated.
An ordinary meeting of the Moldovan-Russian interministerial consultations between deputy ministers took place in Chisinau on June 9. There were discussed the current state of the Moldovan-Russian relations and the prospects of the bilateral cooperation in the areas of mutual interest.
In a communiqué, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration says the officials also discussed the Moldovan-Russian commercial-economic cooperation, the Moldova side pleading for removing all the technical barriers and resuming the exports of Moldovan wine products to Russia. They also conferred on the signing of the Association Agreement with the EU and on the bilateral cooperation in the humanitarian sector, especially in the field of migration. The Moldovan side requested hastening the finalization of negotiations on a number of bilateral agreements that regulate interaction between the two states in this area.
