The leader of the European People’s Party of Moldova Iurie Leanca, after a meeting of the unaffiliated MPs and representatives of the Liberal Democratic Party on December 1, said that this was only a first step and they must immediately switch to the second phase, which is the negotiations with all the sides involved, where to agree the priorities for the future government, IPN reports.

Iurie Leanca said that in the meeting each side stated their opinions about the possibilities of overcoming the current crisis. Both the PLDM and the three unaffiliated MPs have practically the same viewpoints and there are no disagreements. However, the unaffiliated lawmakers consider that the candidate for Prime Minister must not be an apolitical person, as the PLDM demands, but a politician who enjoys the support of most of the MPs. At the second stage, they will agree the criteria according to which the candidate will be selected. An apolitical Cabinet will be unable to work efficiently.

The leader of the Lib-Dems Valeriu Strelet said that divergences in the dialogue with the unaffiliated MPs exist only as regards the designation of the candidate for Prime Minister. There are appropriate candidates for premiership who hadn’t been involved in politics and who can assume proper responsibility and represent a hope for the people. The consultations with the Democrats start today at 4pm.

Earlier today, the Lib-Dems had a first round of discussions with representatives of the Liberal Party after the PLDM’s National Political Council on November 30 decided that the party will take part in the negotiations on the formation of a parliamentary majority. Initially, the PLDM refused to take part in them.
