Iurie Leanca said that he took part in the launch of the election campaign of Romanian Premier Victor Ponta as Moldova’s Prime Minister. He made such a statement in the program “Moldova live” on the public TV channel Moldova 1, IPN reports.

According to Iurie Leanca, it was a human gesture made in a correct manner. “I went there to support Prime Minister Victor Ponta in the race for the presidency of Romania as Prime Minster. I made such a gesture in order to support the Premier who during a year did for Moldova more than it has been done during the history of the relations between Chisinau and Bucharest,” he stated.

He gave as example the Moldovan kindergartens renovated with money provided by the Government of Romania, the formation of SMRUD and the building of the Iasi-Ungheni gas pipeline. “Shortly after its creation, SMRUD has saved 75 lives. Ponta deserves to be supported by us just for this. He never refused us when we asked for help. Time has come to help him too. I went to Bucharest as Prime Minister and I did it in the interests of the Moldovan people,” explained Iurie Leanca.

The Moldovan Premier took part in the launch of the election campaign of Victor Ponta, where he said that he sees the Romanian Premier as President of Romania. This statement aroused reactions on the part of the President of Romania Traian Basescu and criticism on the part of media outlets from both sides of the Prut River.
