Iurie Dudoglo wins bronze at European Weightlifting Championship

Moldova has won the first medal at the European Weightlifting Championships held in Norway in the 62 kg class. Iurie Dudoglo won bronze in clean and jerk with the result of 156 kg, IPN reports.

In the general rankings, Dudoglo took the fifth position with 284 kg lifted. Moldovan athletes Alexandru Spac (77 kg), Alexandru Dudoglo (85 kg) and Natalia Priscepa (75 kg) are yet to compete.

Olympic bronze medalist Cristina Iovu, who now represents Romania, became European champion. Competing in the 53 kg class, she ranked third in snatch, but finished first in clean and jerk and had a total of 220 kg. Iovu decided to represent Romania at the beginning of this year.
