The Moldovan politicians are obliged to form a government coalition that will take into account the results of the local elections in Chisinau, Romanian ex-presidential adviser Iulian Chifu, who heads the Center for Conflict Prevention and Early Warning, said in the talk show “European Horizon” on TVR Moldova channel, IPN reports.

Chifu said the President of Moldova Nicolae Timofti should also take steps. “The head of state is the one who should put forward initiatives and consult the political parties and parliamentary groups and determine them to reach a consensus. Initially, it is necessary to form a pro-European majority coalition and the Government. Afterward, those from the future government coalition should also reach a consensus with the Communist MPs so as to avoid the blocking of the election of the President next year. This is the road that the Moldovan pro-European politicians should follow,” he stated.

The former adviser to ex-President Traian Basescu also urged the Moldovan politicians to set clear goals concerning the fight against corruption and the implementation of reforms immediately after the Government is formed. “The European orientation in Chisinau is a solid one, but there is a need to start doing things,” said Chifu.
