The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology on April 30 launched the national contest “ITYouth – the future starts with you”, which is held in Moldova for the first time. Eighteen young persons who will present the best IT projects will receive valuable prizes, Info-Prim Neo reports. This national project is designed to identify a new generation of IT specialists, said Minister of Information and Communication Technology Alexandru Oleinic. The contest provides equal chances to the young people from urban areas and those from rural areas. It is open to persons who already implemented projects and to those who have ideas that can improve the living conditions and want to get involved in certain processes. “Any of the several dozens of thousands of young people studying at high schools and universities can take part in the contest,” said Alexandru Oleinic. According to the minister, Moldova will manage to assert itself at international level only when it will help and stimulate the young people to become professionals as this will be a guarantee that there will be more workplaces, decent salaries, larger budget revenues and continuous investments in the eduction of the young generations. Rodica Verbeniuc, the head of the corporate communication division of a company that is the partner of the project, said that this project is very important for the Moldovan young people. “There are many young persons who want to contribute to the development of the country. This project offers them such a possibility,” she said The contest is open to tenth-twelfth graders and first- and second-year university students. Those who want to take part must send projects in such categories as Websites, Applications and Graphics to the email address itineret@itineret.md by June 19. The jury is composed of representatives of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, the State University, the Technical University and other education institutions. 100 contenders with the best projects will be invited to a summer camp, where will take part in recreational activities, seminars and training courses. The best 18 projects will be awarded. The results of the contest will be announced by June 30. The selection criteria include originality, utility for the community, quality and functionality.
