The people must vote for the candidate who will have a close relation with the country in the future, not for the states that are behind some of the election runners, said candidate for the post of Governor of Gagauzia Valerii Ianioglo. He has told IPN that it’s every election runner’s duty to plead for keeping peace in Moldova and to contribute to reunifying this state.

Valerii Ianioglo believes that Moldova cannot have relations of friendship with the EU to the detriment of the relationship with Russia or vice versa. Moldova must be an independent and prosperous state that can implement booth the Eastern and the Western values.

Asked about the election campaign, Valerii Ianioglo said mostly equal conditions were created for the contenders. His only concern is related to the possibility of vote rigging owing to the inaccuracies in the voter rolls. The names of some voters were written on the lists several times. It is the Election Commission’s duty to verify the lists and remove the irregularity so as to avoid rigging.

Valerii Ianioglo noted that his electoral platform has two components: economic and social. Among his priorities are to support the mothers by providing a one-time allowance of 200,000 lei on the birth of the second and next children and the young specialists by a social housing program, to increase the prestige of occupations and to support the young people who develop a business by covering half of their investments.

The first round of elections in Gagauzia will take place on March 22. The second round, if it’s necessary, will be held in April 5. Twelve candidates were registered initially as election runners. Oleg Kaiky withdrew from the race later. Recently, Serghei Buzadji asked being removed from the race, but his application is to be examined yet. The other ten candidates are: Valerii Ianioglo, Ruslan Garbaly, Nicolae Dudoglo, Irina Vlah, Oleg Garizan, Alexandru Stoianoglo, Serghei Chernev, Dumitru Croitor, Ilia Anastasov, and Leonid Dobrov.
