The Joint Stock Company Termocom has suspended the hot water supply to many blocks of flats in Chisinau, and lowered the temperature of the supplied heat. This information was confirmed by Deputy Mayor Mihai Furtuna. Mihai Furtuna asked the Central Dispatcher for information in this regard, when the Social-Democratic faction left the December 7 sitting of the Chisinau City Council, protesting thus against the refusal of the City Council’s chairman, Mihai Ghimpu, to invite Termocom’s representatives to give explanations about the situation. Social-Democrat Councillor Emil Gutu said that according to the information he has, several blocks of flats were disconnected from the heating and hot water supply. During the break, Deputy Mayor Mihai Furtuna denied for the press the heating supply suspension, saying that it’s only the temperature that was reduced. Asked how many blocks have been affected and how cold it is now in the Chisinau flats, Furtuna said he does not know these details yet, adding that the situation is under control. Moldova Noastra Alliance’s councillor Oleg Cernei criticised his social-democrat colleagues, stressing that their chairman, Eduard Musuc, was the one “shouting from the tribune to annul the heating tariff.” Corina Fusu, Liberal Party faction leader, said that all those who have voted for cancelling the tariff are equally responsible, adding that this is a correct decision, representing the citizen’s interests. Before the tariff was annulled, Termocom’s financial manager, Vitalie Morii, stated that a decision to come back to the old tariff will have a financial impact on the heating supplier. If such a decision is made, Termocom will lower the temperature set for December at 80-82 degrees down to 35-40 degrees, Morii added.
