The Italian authorities imposed entrance restrictions on the citizens of 13 countries, among which is the Republic of Moldova. The ban affects anyone who has stayed in or travelled through these countries in the last 14 days, IPN reports.
The list comprises Moldova, Armenia, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Brasil, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Chile, Kuwait, North Macedonia, Oman, Panama, Peru, and the Dominican Republic. To ensure an appropriate health protection level, the direct and indirect flights to and from the given countries were suspended.
“Around the world, the pandemic is in its most acute phase. We cannot waste the sacrifices the Italians have made in recent months,” Italian Health Minister Roberto Speranza said in a statement.
Over 12.3 million infections with the novel coronavirus have been recorded globally by July 10. More than 557,500 people died from COVID-19. Italy has recorded over 242,300 infections and almost 35,000 deaths.
Moldova so far has got 18,600 cases of COVID-19, with the death toll from the disease totaling 624.
