No fewer than ten leading Italian brands, whose design has made history, will be present at an exhibition celebrating Italian Design Days in the Republic of Moldova. The event will take place March 24-30, at Chateau Mimi. Italy’s ambassador to Moldova, Valeria Biagiotti, said during a news conference that it is the second edition of the exhibition after last year, attended by many people passionate about Italian design.

The ambassador said that such exhibitions have been held around the world since 2017 with the purpose of promoting Italian design. Design is one of Italy's business cards, from fashion, interior decoration, furniture to automobiles. Since the launch of the initiative, over 300 projects have been carried out in 230 cities around the world.

Valeria Biagiotti said this year Italian design is celebrated as part of two major world design events: the second international triennial exhibition in Milan, opened from March 1 to September 1; and the Furniture Salon, which is the world’s most sought after and prestigious event for interior design and furniture, and which will take place April 9-14, also in Milan.

The Italian ambassador expressed her hope that the event in Moldova will lead to the establishment of an institutional collaboration. Speaking about the venue of this year’s edition, Chateau Mimi, Valeria Biagiotti stressed that it is an emblem of Italian design in Moldova, thanks to the project implemented by Arnaldo Tranti, “who transformed the edifice into a gem of contemporary architecture”. He has been designated as the 2019 Ambassador of the Italian design to Moldova.

Alexandrin Buraga, founder of the Design Cafe&Club Platform, which is a partner of the exhibition, said that all those passionate about design and Italian aesthetics are invited to attend the event. A special guest at the event will be the 2018 Ambassador of the Italian design Patrizio Corno. He will hold a seminar on Italian design at UTM, the Faculty of Urbanism and Architecture, at 11.30 on Friday. On Saturday, at the inauguration of the exhibition, special guests will participate, and from Sunday, March 24, until next Saturday, March 30, the guests of Chateau Mimi will have access to the exhibition.
