The powerful sports car Bella's Red Ferrari, a chest of drawers made by combining old and modern wood and a collection of ceramic ware with new metallic decorations are some of the objects displayed at an exhibition mounted on the occasion of the Italian Design Day in Moldova that was opened on March 23. During March 24 – 30, the exhibition housed by the Mimi Castle can be visited by the guests of the Castle, IPN reports.
In the opening of the event, Italy’s Ambassador to Moldova Valeria Biagiotti said the exhibition was staged to promote and develop one of the Italian excellences - the design. This is an area that dominates the sectors of the economies of many countries, from furniture, architecture and cars up to domestic appliances. The exhibition was mounted at the Mimi Castle because the project to renovate the given building was created by Italian designer Arnaldo Tranti.
According to Valeria Biagiotti, this year the Italian design is celebrated as part of two events that are important for world design – the second international triennial exhibition of Milan that can be visited from March 1 until September 1, 2019 and the furniture fair famous for its interior design that will take place in Milan during April 9-14. “There is nothing hotter than the design. The design is present in all the spheres of our life and this can perceive the temperature of society like a phenomenon,” said the ambassador.
Ion Ștefăniță, director of the Agency for Monument Inspection and Restauration of Moldova, noted that progress is made by communication and the Moldovan professionals attending the exhibition can discuss with representatives of this sector from abroad. “The high-quality projects are developed with professionals. It is important to remain motivated, determined and to professionally provide solutions for the existing projects,” he stated.
Design Cafe&Club Platform founder Alexandrin Buraga, a partner of the exhibition, said the Italian Design Day is an important event that contributes to establishing trends and helps learn from the design experiences of Italian producers operating in design, architecture and other areas.
The ceremony to inaugurate the exhibition included a workshop centering on Italian design directed by Arnaldo Tranti, who was named the ambassador of Italian design in Moldova for 2019. The guests could also take part in a culinary show where chef Vasile Ardelean prepared Italian dishes from cheese that was two years old.
According to statistics, of the 179,000 European enterprises working in the field of design, 29,000 are from Italy, which is each sixth. Italy is the second country in the world by the number of issued design patents. The Italian design system is competitive due to the training and education system applied in Italy. Milan is a conclusive example. This city hosts the largest number of design schools in the world.
