Italian Culture Week to be staged in Moldova for first time

A number of activities and performances will be staged in Chisinau and in the country’s districts within the Italian Culture Days between May 5 and May 11. Such days are organized in Moldova for the first time. Head of the Italy-Moldova Association of Social Promotion Gian Luca del Marco, who is one of the organizers, has told IPN that the planned events will familiarize the Moldovan public with different aspects of the culture, history and traditions of Italy.

An exhibition entitled “Parole per Strada” (“Words on the Street”) will be mounted at the Municipal Library “Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu” on May 5. On the same say, the Teacher Training University “Ion Creanga” will host a literary event titled “La gioia di sfogliare l'italiano” (“Joy of discovering Italian”).

On May 6, there will be staged a contest of water color paintings themed “Le maschere veneziane” (“Venetian masks”), at the primary school of “Dante Aligheri” Lyceum. A seminar on Italian cuisine will be taught at the same school.

The Italian movie “Un viaggio immaginario nell'italia Rinascimentale” (“Imaginary trip to Renascent Italy” will be screened at “Ion Creangă” University on May 6. The same day, the National Museum of Ethnography and Natural Sciences will host an exhibition of Italian national costumes and the Cinematographic Festival of History and Archeology, organized in cooperation with Moldova-Film Studio and the International Festival Archeological Film of Rovereto, Italy.

A performance entitled “Vivo, amo, songo con l'italiano...” will be given at Ion Creangă” University” on May 7.

A contest titled “Lo Zecchino d'Oro” (“The Golden Sequin”) will be staged at the primary school of “Dante Aligheri” Lyceum on May 8.

An Italian music contest and the award ceremony of the literary contest “Italy between the pages of a book” will take place at the Organ Hall on May 10. Gian Luca del Marco said the concert will involve the band “Itanolia Trio” that will perform the most beautiful and representative songs of the Italian music.

An Italian music contest and the ceremony to close the Italian Culture Days will be held on Sunday, May 11, at the Culture and Youth Center in Criuleni town.
