The fifth Italian Cuisine Week in the World, staged by the Embassy of Italy in Chisinau, will take place in Moldova during November 23 – 29. The theme of this year’s edition is “Knowledge and Aromas of Italy on the 200th anniversary of birth of Pellegrino Artusi”. On the 130th anniversary of the publication of his cuisine book “Science in the Kitchen and the Art of Eating Well”, this continues to be the milestone of the Italian gastronomic culture, being translated and disseminated all over the world, IPN reports, quoting a press release of the Embassy of Italy.

The Italian Cuisine Week in the World this time also represents an occasion for celebrating ten years since UNESCO included the Mediterranean diet in the list of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Given the public health emergency situation, this year the event will be held primarily online, but there will also be occasions for tasting Italian traditional products. Throughout this week, a number of supermarkets in Moldova will set up a stand dedicated to Italy. Also, a number of restaurants in Chisinau will offer a special menu, including with the possibility of taking out. There will be staged a number of online events centering on the Mediterranean diet and Italian wine and gastronomic excellences: from pizza to pasta, from café to wine.

There will also be presented a documentary about Pellegrino Artusi’s work and staged a series of monothematic master-classes focusing on the most famous products of the Italian culinary tradition, which will be accessible on a specially dedicated platform based on a participation certificate.

Given the pandemic, a lunch will be offered to the medical and sanitary personnel of the Emergency Medicine Institute of Chisinau. This symbolic gesture is aimed at gratifying those who daily take care of sick people, often at the cost of the own life.
