The third edition of the Italian Cuisine Week will take place in Moldova during November 19 – 25. The event is organized by the Embassy of Italy in Chisinau in cooperation with a number of partners, IPN reports.
In a press release, the Embassy said that among the objectives of this year’s edition are to promote the Mediterranean diet and its ingredients and to popularize the enogastronomic traditions of Italian regions and territories. Training activities will be carried out to promote a long-term relationship between the students of culinary faculties and Italian and local cooks.
On November 20, the Italian Cuisine Week will be celebrated together with a musical band. Brio Sonores will give their first solo performance. It will be a concert to raise funds in support of the Chisinau Children’s Rights Protection Division. The proceeds will go to create a community day center for children and youths.
On November 21, children from placement centers of Chisinau could taste the pizza prepared by pizza world champion Gianni Di Lella, the guest of Casa Rinaldi company, while magician Garry Cozma will stage an entertaining performance.
On November 23, the delegation from Romania of the Italian Chefs Federation will hold a seminar and a workshop entitled “Mediterranean Diet” at the Technical University of Moldova. The Chefs Federation, in concert with a group of entrepreneurs from Sicilia, will stage a Cooking Show with tasting of Sicilian products at the Embassy of Italy in cooperation with the International Women’s Club.
Since November 19, the MallDova Shopping Center will host a thematic exhibition with reproductions of paintings from Italian museums. On November 24, MallDova will also host a contest to prepare and taste pizza in the presence of chef Gianni Di Lella. The contenders will be diplomats, artists and children.
Throughout the week, the Italian restaurants will offer special menus, including Pasta with Pesto, a Genovese specialty, as part of the Pasta Pesto Day initiative (www.pastapestoday.it), where a part of the profits will be donated to the Genova City Hall for supporting he victims of the Morandi Bridge collapse of August 14.
