Italian Ambassador in Chisinau Enrico Nunziata said the Italian businesspeople are interested in investing in Moldova’s economy and this factor will contribute to the country’s development. The diplomat made statements in the opening of the first forum of Italian and Moldovan-Italian enterprises in Moldova, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué from the Government.

“I’m convinced that the economic relations between Italy and Moldova, owing to the cultural and, especially, linguistic affinities, have a great prospect. The investments made by Italy in Moldova represent a contribution to the economic development and the European integration process,” said Enrico Nunziata.

Prime Minister designate Iurie Leanca said that Moldova has certain advantages at investment level, such as the Free Trade Area with the CIS and the fact that it is close to finishing the negotiations on the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement with the EU, and may create a joint economic area with the European Union in the future.

Iurie Leanca underlined that Italy is an important partner of Moldova both at political level and economic level. “The 600 companies with Italian capital working in Moldova represent a good start, but our common potential is yet to be realized. I’m confident that together we will succeed,” he stated.

The forum of Italian and Moldovan-Italian enterprises in Moldova was organized by the Embassy of Italy in partnership with the Moldovan-Italian Chamber of Trade, the Italian-Moldovan Chamber of Trade and Confindustria Moldova.
